Why Managing Health & Safety Is Important To Your Business
(MONTHLY RETAINER)
Any good and compliant Occupational Health and Safety Management System depend on the managing of such system / program after the implementation phase. Statistic’s proofs that 73% of all businesses prefer to outsource the managing of their health and safety program by means of a monthly maintenance fee (retainer).
- Accidents and ill health are costly to businesses, personnel and their families.
- High absenteeism equals higher costs.
- A high staff turnover means higher recruitment and training costs and usually results in reduced productivity and higher accidents.
- Losses from a major accident can completely ruin the image of a company, both financially and in reputation
- Property and equipment damage can result in poor quality production and high costs for replacements
- In the event of an accident inspectors from the Department of Labour will visit your premises.
- Inspectors visiting your workplace will want to know how you manage your health and safety risks. You are all obliged to comply with Health and Safety Legislation.
- Penalties for failure to comply with the prescripts of the OHSA include fines and imprisonment with a criminal record. It is important to know that where non-compliance leads to injury or a casualty, the employer could be held liable.

I met Leon in 2016 when I was tasked with the project of updating the Occupational Health and Safety system of the company and ensuring compliance with regards to the various policies and procedures. He assisted me to create an OHS Management System. The system is very detailed and includes informative guides, reports, forms, and checklists that will assist you to easily manage your site and OHS team. Once we implemented this it was so easy to work with and manage all the different aspects of our site and business.
Leon does our Risk assessments for the site and our yearly OHS Audit for the Certificate of Accreditation. As a person I enjoy working with him, because he is friendly and treats his clients with respect. He is always available to take my call and ready with advice or referrals when I need it.
I would also like to take the opportunity to thank Leon for our partnership that have turned into friendship.
